Describe changes without self-diagnosing
Changes in how you feel may have more than one explanation. A hormone-care conversation should leave room for evaluation and alternative explanations rather than assuming every concern is a hormone deficiency.
Ask what is being considered
Clarify the specific hormone, formulation, reason for treatment and available alternatives. BHRT is a label used for bioidentical hormone replacement therapy; the label alone does not tell you the approval status of a particular product.
Separate familiar language from evidence
Natural or bioidentical wording does not establish that a compounded preparation is safer or more effective than an approved medicine. Ask what evidence supports the particular recommendation and which risks are relevant to you.
Plan for follow-up
Ask how your response will be assessed, when to follow up and what would prompt changing or stopping treatment. Confirm the full cost and what each quoted treatment interval includes before making a decision.
